Sufferers of flight sickness will, however, be pleased to know that there are ways and means of treating the problem, and each of these is natural. To begin with, experts recommend that fliers start their flight with half a nutmeg under the tongue.

Nutmeg has a calming effect and placed beneath the tongue it can be speedily absorbed into the blood stream. In addition, queasy travellers are encouraged to sip a ginger based drink, such as tea or ginger ale. Ginger has ant-nausea properties and can help to reorder an unsettled system. (more...)

What to Expect From a First Time Cruise

Many people from all over the world like to travel to far flung destinations so that they can say that they have truly had an experienced life. Whilst some travellers prefer to stay on dry land, many people are now turning their attention to exploring the sea.

Cruises nowadays are nothing like what they were when the industry first began to develop. In the early days the cruise ships were very basic and had the minimum amount of facilities to keep the guests entertained. With cruise ships being a lot bigger nowadays, travellers on a cruise can indulge in a variety of activities such as casinos, elaborate shows and even on-board golf courses!

One of the biggest advantages of a cruise is that you will still hit dry land every couple of days and so those without sturdy sea-faring legs can still jump ship to explore the attractions, shops and eateries of the location where the ship has docked. Most cruises try to incorporate destinations that are popular with tourists and that can add something special to the whole cruise ship experience. (more...)

Securing the cheapest flights is every budget traveller's primary goal. Without a foolproof strategy to attain inexpensive air tickets, however, inexperienced vacationers will find themselves overwhelmed by all the information and confused by the multitude of options available.

As mentioned, travel is invariably about successful planning, and booking flights is no exception. In order to ensure you arrive at your destination in the most cost-effective way possible, you will need to begin your search a long time in advance. (more...)

Preferred Airline

Whether you are looking for Sydney flights or US flights, many people tend to choose whatever airline offers the cheapest ticket or else the most convenient schedule. However there are quite a few people who, for one reason for another, have a preferred airline which they will always use where possible.

This can be for different reasons. Many business travellers have loyalty cards with their airline and they accumulate both points and air miles whenever they make a flight on that airline or one of its partner airlines.

This means that they get back free flights now and then and, if they travel often enough, they reach a certain status which means lots of extra perks such as use of the business class lounge even when travelling economy. (more...)

How Our Holiday Preferences are Changing

It has recently been announced, by a top UK tour operator, that they will only be offering holidays that feature all inclusive packages in the 2012 holiday season. This must reflect the fact that our preference towards the type of holiday we take is changing and travel companies are trying their best to keep up with this fact.

Personally, I feel that this bold step is somewhat of a mistake, it fails to reflect any choice and I am confident that this tour operator will lose out on a huge share of this industry next year. Moreover, when it comes to Europe especially, not everyone wants all inclusive packages, there are still many people who would prefer Rome apartments instead of soulless all inclusive resorts.

Obviously, there will be many other tour operators in the market next year who will be offering self catering, half and full board options, but it is a worry that more companies may follow suit in this practice, eliminating even more choice for our holidays as a result. (more...)
