If you are thinking of jetting off abroad for the summer holidays, there are many destinations which are not too expensive and fit the bill perfectly for a great beach holiday. The good thing about summer holidays is that the weather is great in many parts of Europe, so you do not have to fly or drive too far for a real summer sizzler.
Within a couple of hours' flight you have resorts in many of the Med countries such as Italy, Greece, Spain and France. Despite the weakness of the pound, you can still pick up some great bargains and you can choose from hotels or apartments, many of them right on the beach and some with pools and leisure facilities.
Apart from mainland Europe there are also many islands which make a great destination for a summer trip and which are great fun to explore. The Balearics are very popular as are the Canary Islands, the Greek Islands, Madeira, Malta and Sardinia.
If you have kids then consider one of the package holidays which offers an all inclusive tariff. You pay more up front but it means that you will not have any nasty surprises from all the extras that the kids seems to go through like ice creams and soft drinks.
Many of the hotels also have kids' clubs to give you, the parents, a break on the holiday too.
